Sea Sharp Safe and Sound

16 November 2010
I left New Jersey yesterday (Monday). Judy is staying for a while and will fly down to join me. I drove to St. George, South Carolina yesterday and the rest of the way today. I arrived at Fort Pierce around 2:00 and picked up my key for the boat. I was very pleased (so far) by her condition. My hard work this spring paid off as she was clean an dry.

I had stowed everything in very large baggies with fabric softeners in each. I had also put about 10 containers of that stuff which absorbs moisture and while they were full, the boat was bone dry and no mold/mildew.

I was however disappointed in that I had commissioned the boat yard to fabricate and install davits this summer and while they had move the boat to the working section of the yard, they did not do the work. I'll explain davits and why I want them in a subsequent post. I spoke with the machinst and he claims he can do it later this week but I hope to launch early next week and meet Judy soon thereafter. Stay tuned.

Anyway, now the work begins. I have to clean an prep the boat over the next several days. I expect to live aboard and while I have electricity I do not have plumbing. The boat yard has a shower and washrooms so I won't be a complete slob.

I renewed acquaintance with several cruisers from Canada and will be going out to dinner with a gang tomorrow night. For tonight, I'll go to bed early and rest for a big day tomorrow.

Glad Sea Sharp is fine........
