Hello!
Well.....being the spontaneous guy I can be....I recently popped for a new, to me, Almar 22 Offshore Cutty Cabin 300hp aluminum expedition cruiser.
After owning the perfect little boat the (un named) 1973, 19 foot GlasPly since 1975 (44yrs) which included upgrading the motor 3 times, 3 trailers and redoing the canvas and interior, plus replacing every piece of wood in the structure I recently replaced her with a big sister. Never thought I own a boat like this as they are WAY out of my budget.
The GlasPly was perfect in most ways but over the years I pushed her way beyond what she was designed for. So when the opportunity arose on the Offshore I jumped at it.
These boats were designed for offshore fishing in Alaska which is where the majority of them were sold. So they are able to take on extreme weather conditions. The Offshore is even self bailing like sailboats.
Got plans to head to the outside of Vancouver Island this year. Also future plans to cruise up the inside passage to Alaska.
I am happy to report the GlasPly went on to a happy owner who wanted a NW legend boat of his dreams. She was purchased by the first person who looked at her!
Cheers!....and a champagne bottle across the bow!
