Hola!
Clicked another item off thee Ole Bucket List this past weekend! Got out to Hot Springs Cove to take a 102 degree natural mineral water soak. Last time here I had spent 2 days in June, 2003 when I solo circumnavigated the island in 21 days on "SeaSwift" sailing a distance of 1,000 miles.
The springs are situated half way up the outside of Vancouver Island so it can be very weather tricky in the fall & winter & early spring months.
John came with me as he has wanted to see Barkley Sound once again and has talked about it for many years. He was there first time with his Dad on the 65 foot motor vessel "Sea Rest" 56 years ago. His father Phil, an extraordinary man, passed this year at 91.
The visit to Hot Springs Cove was a first for John.
The Hot Spring tumbles down a timbered hillside with small pools and waterfalls along the way and eventually spills into the bay. Access is a boardwalk from a park dock approximately a mile and a quarter up and down along the edge of the bay to the pools. We had planned on soaking twice in the these therapeutic pools but after enjoying them for an hour we both were so relaxed the walk back to the boat proved too freaking challenging to try it a second time on this quick trip......lol
