Sails and sailmakers
30 April 2008
The picture of our working jib shows it hoisted all the way to the masthead, which doesn't work at all. Now that we've lowered it several feet, we have a sail that will do well in strong winds.
We've installed Spin-Tec roller furling (which is a wonderful product, easy to use, no issue of halyard wrap, simple to install and with a lifetime guarantee) on both the jib and staysail and had Lee Sails make our new staysail, light-air genoa, and mizzen. Unfortunately, they misunderstood the Spin-Tec directions and put the wrong size luff tape on the furling sails, but their northern CA representative assured us they will fix their mistake. That's the sort of outfit whose reputation we will promote and who will get all our future business (and the business of a number of others here in Marina Bay to whom we have recommended Lee Sails).
Speaking of good folk, let me also mention Raritan, who replaced our LectraScan without question; and Fortress anchors, whose lifetime guarantee means they sent us new parts for our aged stern anchor, again with no questions.
Credit where credit is due. Those who treat others well will reap the reward of a good name and blessings that follow their actions. Those who don't will ultimately reap their reward also--they just may not like it as well.
