Camping at Lighthouse County Park
25 June 2020 | Port Hope, Michigan
Doug Lauzon | Sunny, warm, and breezy.
We shared two days of camping this week with Cathy's sister, Anne Marie, and husband, Steve, in Port Hope, MI. Camping is defined as "in a trailer, not a tent". Evening campfires brought out great times with marshmallow samores, cool temps, and the seasonal "fish flies".
Port Hope is one of the two largest resting areas for ships lost at sea in Lake Huron. A reef extends almost two miles from shore and is only covered by some two feet of water. The lighthouse was built in 1848 to guide ships beyond the risky coastline around Michigan's Thumb and is still an active aid today.
