Road trip to Northern Michigan
17 August 2021 | Traverse City and Charlevoix, Michigan
Doug Lauzon | Sunny, warm, and smooth water
Since our July trip by boat was canceled, we decided to take a road trip to visit some of the stops we had planned.
Our first stop today was Traverse City, cherry capital of the Midwest. The water in the boat harbor was so clear, you could see bottom ten feet down. The Main Street of town was filled with shops and restaurants, many with sidewalk dining.
The second stop was Charlevoix, with a harbor right in the downtown area. Boaters can navigate through the inland harbor and then travel into Lake Charlevoix, going over ten miles inland. Both of these water areas are lined with breathtaking homes and cottages.
We will spend the night here and then travel north along the coast to Petoskey and Harbor Springs tomorrow morning.
