Second day of road trip
18 August 2021 | Petoskey, Harbor Springs, St Ignace
Doug Lauzon | Sunny, warm, and smooth water
Today we headed north to the harbor of Petoskey, sheltered in a bay from the wrath of bad weather off Lake Michigan. The water in the bay was absolutely flat today, making it perfect for all types of boating.
Our next stop was Harbor Springs with an abundance of wealth and an atmosphere of money in the air.
We continued north to the tip of the Lower Peninsula and crossed the Mackinaw Bridge, a seven mile suspension bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinaw, which joins Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
Now in the UP (Upper Peninsula), we drove slightly to the east to St Ignace, one of two locations for taking the ferry boats over to Mackinaw Island. (Look at our posts from two years ago for pics of it.) After having an early dinner we began our drive back south to our boat and home port.
Quite a last two days, covering a lot of ground and destinations that we are hoping to travel back to by boat next year.
