Cruising towards the New Year

We had company in Vero before we left there for holidays with our families.– Greg and Sue spent the weekend and we did lots of visiting and eating. They headed a bit further south to see some other friends in Hollywood and then picked us up on the way back. We stopped in at the Dixie Crossroads to meet up with Autumn Borne and C-Note for a big lunch before heading north. Greg and Sue were kind enough to drop us off in St. Mary’s to pick up our car and continue north for the holiday festivities.
Heading back to Vero tomorrow after the 12 days of Christmas with our families. What a great Christmas – with most of the families making the trip to our moms’ houses. All the kids are growing up and turning out to be such great people!
New Year’s Eve in Vero- well, of course no one actually makes it to New Year’s, so we celebrated with Happy Hour till dark and then a little more celebrating on C-Note and then a great Breakfast brunch on Seeker on NY day- Bacon, eggs, hash brown casserole, muffins, fruit, fresh OJ Delish! Thanks to C-Note and JillyQ for their contribution and their presence!
So we’ve been in Vero for over a month and the Velcro doesn’t look like it’s come unglued yet. We’re waiting…. For friends, for projects to be completed, for a weather window, for… a sense of urgency- which according to Earl, there seems to be an appalling lack of on Seeker. If there weren’t so many things to do in Vero it would be easier to leave. There’s the beach, the Farmer’s Market, the visits with friends, the walks in the park, the bike rides, the bridge walks, the dink repairs, the list goes on and on. We went to the huge Farmer’s Market in Ft. Pierce this weekend with Kaye and TJ (pic) on Shearwater. We laughed so much trying to find Archie’s biker bar for lunch!
Our friend Jeanne, that lives here in Vero, picked us up today for a 3 hour lunch at 12A Buoy restaurant. Great food, great conversation sitting in the sunshine. The only thing that enticed us to leave was the promise of a croissant at the Patissiere.
A cold front just moved through. It was 60 in the cabin this morning and I had on fleece. I’ll never be able to spend another winter in WNC! Well. It’s late afternoon, really not a good time to start a project. Maybe I’ll have a glass of wine in the cockpit or take a nap, or knit…..
