Hope (it) Floats

18 May 2011
Somehow I missed the memo, but
this morning was the World Dog Wrestling Championships -- Tong Gau Division; held on the aft cabin berth. Rusty has the weight and reach on Rascal, but the little guy has moves and (did I mention this before?) he is relentless.

Finishing up on various boat bottom projects -- sounder that was enameled-over; anti-foul last touch-ups; bow-thruster reassembled and tested; cleaning up bits and pieces of trash from our chores (along with re-bagging our household trash strewn about by one or more of the local ravens). Inside we checked voltages and re-connected our various batteries: engine start, generator start, house batts and bow-thruster / windlass batts.

Checked with the harbormaster crew working the travel lift (boats going in / out continuos since 0800) to see when today or tomorrow they might fit us in and the answer was "when can you be ready?" We said "15 minutes" and there we were 1430hrs, hanging in the slings, lowering down to the water after 3 months on the hard. Engine started instantly -- "nothing runs like a deer". We motored south around the corner to Wrangell's new Heritage harbor and tied up in a transient slip. By 1800 the decks were clean, water tanks full, power on, hot water, lights, heat etc. Boy, are we happy!

Dorothy and I have been posting photos on our Facebook pages:  "Dorothy Peterson Nagle"and "DavidEllis Nagle Boat".  I'm making these blog entries via 1-finger smartphone, and have been unable to figure how to post photos to Sailblogs from the phone.

We've got lots of boat chores still ahead of us, but we're way more comfortable now and looking forward to it.
