Latest 00Z Met Sat Imagery/OSCAT Data/ and Synoptic Scale Surface Pressure and Wind Forecasts suggests a strong eastern Pacific High centered near 40N 155W 1032 Mb with ridge extending SW through 19N 158E will continue a strong pressure gradient (NE 20 to 25 knot NE Trades/ 4 Meters seas ) east of 180 and north of 15N East of the International Dateline next 24 to 48 hours. New High center 1024 Mb forecast near 35N 170E by 12Z June 18 with with a Ridge extending SW through 20N 145E suggesting a strong NE 25 knot Trade Winds/4 Meter Seas to continue North of 15N and east of 160E.

There are no areas of disturbed weather expected to develop into a Tropical Cyclone. The Trade just notes expected to produce scattered areas of squalls and isolated TSTORMS North of 5N to 20N. At 00Z the ITCZ located from 03N 170E to 08N 160W.

The set and drift of water flow being experienced is most likely Trade wind driven and not NEC. Local near surface water flow can resemble a current if winds from the same direction and speed persists for 12 hours or more. It is my estimation the present drift and set of surface water is not of the NEC.

Recommend consideration to returning back to Majuro, refuel and fill fuel bladders and phone conference to consider options should your SOG continue below 4 Knots.
