Surprising turn of events is another day with 20+ knots on the nose. Hey, only 1032nm to go which as point of reference is a bit longer than running from Seattle to San Francisco. We are beginning to get into "heading to the barn" mode. Experimented with increase in rpm's and speed yesterday with the following results, tallied by Wade Last 24h Previous 24 RPM 1850 1750 Gal/hr 3.2 2.8 24h distance 116nm 112nm speed 4.83kts 4.67kts Fuel on Board 1054g 1128g Range 1644nm 1940nm To Hawaii 1052 1168 Reserve miles 592nm 722nm Reserve gallons 380g 448g MPG 1.56 1.72
So as you might expect, we throttled back to original rate which still may be subject to tweaking with consideration of all variables including change in weather/conditions. Little gain for quite a bit of fuel.
