Summary: 85 Nautical Miles to Hawaii
We left Majuro, Marshall Islands 13 June and will arrive Honolulu tomorrow morning, so 17 days, maybe less a few hours depending
on our SOG from here in, which is actually quite low given our RPM of 1960. It would appear the difference is an opposing current
coming out of the strait between Kauai and Oahu. So, we're just about there!
All the members of Shearwater's Hong Kong to Honolulu crew have their own individual assessment of the voyage, and you can sample
these at Shearwater's blog on Sailblogs or Roger's Facebook page or Wade's series of "Fishwrappers". We all started with different, although
not necessarily conflicting, agendas, backgrounds and baggage. An observation very gratifying to me is that besides making a safe voyage
without drama, our interpersonal relationships were not significantly stressed. On long ocean voyages, such stresses and strains are the
rule rather than the exception. You know what I'm writing about if anyone of you have ever heard Dorothy humming "If I killed the captain, really who would know? We're
two weeks out of port and one week left to go" (from Eileen Quinn's CD)
Expect a long narrative of the voyage, technical details, comparisons to the North Pacific crossing of '09 and pictures finally populating the
individual entries of this blog.
