back in Asia

19 January 2008 | Hong Kong
Hello sports fans... today is two months since we left Asia, and we are now back. After great visits with family and friends, and also I'm ashamed / disappointed to say missing seeing some great friends, we are in Hong Kong preparing to take the ferry to Macau, then fly to Clark (formerly USAFB) on Luzon Island in the Philippines. From that point it's an 1.5 hour drive back to Subic Bay and the DavidEllis.

It will be great to get back to the boat, and our own bed. We've got 100 kg of luggage, which will likely be a hassle as we transition to ferry, taxi and airport; we've got 4 different packages of parts, including the new jib we had built in HK while we were away, in transit to the Subic Bay Yacht Club that I can worry about until it all gets there.

We flew back into HK from Vancouver BC ($600 round trip guys!) last Wednesday 16Jan (after driving from Sebastopol CA up to Seattle dodging rain and snow, only to get a couple of inches of snow and really slippery roads in Seattle the morning we went from Seattle to Vancouver. And while it's cool here in HK, it is definitely not snowing.

We've been staying on friends' boat at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club, Sai Kung up the east side of the New Territories in Hong Kong SAR. You can find the yacht club on Googleearth.com at 22deg21'53.45"N, 114deg15'39.34"E . And speaking of Googleearth, check out the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, on the unside (southside) of HK island, SW from Sai Kung. If you looking at the southside of the first double-line of moored boats, south of Jumbo's floating restaurant, 10 in from the left is a large-ish boat with two smaller, identical shape boats either side. 22deg14'28.51"N, 114deg09'47.20"E These are DavidEllis and Kwakatu (David & Jamie Fritsch) flanking E-Trade where we were moored Oct'06 through Mar'07. Here's a snapshot to help you find it...
