The 'Pacific Anchorage Expansion' off the entrance to the canal channel. Our boat is the black triangle in the middle of the chart plotter screen. The grey triangles are the big ships anchored (mostly) waiting their turn to enter the Panama Canal. The six grey triangles that have red outlines are deemed threats to our boat. These are AIS, or Automatic Identification System, targets--we cannot imagine cruising without AIS. It was a game of 'Dodgem'.
