S/V Double D

These are the adventures of the S/V Double D, crew David and Lori Graham. Our vessel has taken us many places along the west coast of North America, Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Oregon and California. We are now "Setting a new course."

Glen Cove Marina, 1st and last SF port for S/V Double D

19 August 2016 | Glen Cove Marina
Glen Cove marina on the Carquinez straights of northern San Francisco bay. This coincidentally was the fist port our vessel called home in 1994 upon sailing into SF bay and now is the last port she calls home before heading south.
It's interesting how life does this.

99 days and counting....

23 May 2016
Today our count down is done with triple digits. We are now in the double digits. "99 days to cast off and counting..."

Spring brings new.

18 May 2016 | Vallejo Marina
We continue with projects and are getting closer and closer, to setting sail. We completed the installation of our engine driven water maker system. We also just added a new Solar panel to our system, we now have 3, 100w panels.

This naturally led to rebuilding the battery / hot water heater compartment, and since we were in there we figured we might as well replace the "original" water heater, both of these were on the "To-Do" list anyhow so it's not a problem.

Over the past month we've relocated to Vallejo Marina which is much nicer in the summer time than being in the main body of SF bay. Warm and sunny and a bit closer to work.

Our first post...

27 March 2016 | Marina Bay
156 days until we cast off from Marina Bay, San Francisco bay. Thought it would be a good time to get started on creating a blog for our big adventure.
We are initially sailing south toward Mexico and then on to central america and to the Panama Canal, from there who knows.

In the mean time we are getting the last of our projects done. Currently about half way done with the installation of our water maker.
The last big up grade.

About:
How did we get here? I had the privilege of growing up with my grandfather’s and was introduced to the boating life early, at the age of 6. I spent many summers commercial fishing with him and my grandmother in the Pacific NW and SE Alaska, in the late 60s through the 70s. [...]
