Marina of Nations

Being here at Shelter Bay Marina one has time to simply "notice". Let me explain. Today, I'm sitting here at the Resturant with my feet kicked over the walls looking out into the Marina. In front if me are the docks from either the left or right. As you look around you can but help to notice the numerous flags and burgees flying among the masts. If you look a little closer you realize the numerous countries that will call this port home for a few days. A truly international society of sailors and cruisers from all over the world.
I see England, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, Spain, Australia, Germany, France, Turkey, Mexico, the U.S. and apparently the United Nations, not to mention the apparent 15 pirates that live hear.
Meeting these people is always an entertaining time. The universal head nod is usually the first introduction. Later, after a few head nods a conversation soon develops. This is when it gets real fun. The stories these people tell varies as much as the boat do in this Marina.
I know most of you back home are watching the winter Olympics. We'll, we have our own Olympics happening right here. Our events include the 47 foot boat wash, the 300 lbs in 15 grocery bags - 126 yard carry. And my favorite, the 6 hours on your butt endurance challenge.
