Wayag Archipelago
18 September 2013 | West papua
Wayag is the northernmost part of Raja Ampat. It comprises clusters of steep karst hill islands mushroomed from sea action, surrounded by bright green shallows in which we frolic with the fishes. The viz is not great here but the above water scenery spectacular. Even a mooring for our comfort. We suspect the mooring is empty because the live-aboard boats are temporarily giving this site a miss: local conflict has closed the area to tourism. But we learned we would probably be OK here as long as we did not climb the disputed hill to the lookout.
