From here the trip to Halmahera was surprisingly easy, and beautiful. We watched the line of volcanic islands slowly disappearing behind us, some generating wisps of smoke. There were a few scary hours in the night with a lightning storm close by as we threaded through a fishing fleet. The boats were lit, but they don't signal what they are doing or in what direction they travel. Unlit fishing houses moored in 2 or 3 kms deep water continue a threat. Radar would be good.
