Bunaken Island

Fishermen showing off their marlin catch to ferry passengers.
Here, daytripping locals rent wetsuits for snorkelling and coral viewing, and cashed up europeans stay at resorts for 3 dives a day. Will paid for a couple of resort dives, and we have shared our tank on a few reefs. We are now west of the Wallace line, and seeing quite a few species new to us. The dropoffs are sheer and deep, the fish and coral varied, viz not great.
We enjoy visits to our boat from locals, and we hike along the island ridge through bananas, coconut, manioc, pigs, dogs, chooks, brahmins and "forest rats" to the local cafe for sweet instant coffee and Bahasa Indonesia practice.
