Horseshoe Island Cruise Day 5

04 July 2010 | The Bay of Green Bay
Cap'n Kenny
It was another windy night last night. I had to fix another loud noise caused by a rope rubbing through a different rope guide. And then a little before 05:00 this morning, a loud noise that sounded like medal hitting medal woke me up. I never found where that noise came from.

Today's forecast calls for Partly cloudy in the morning...then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs around 74 at the Lakeshore to 82 to 85 inland. South wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 40 percent.

The marine forecast for the day is South wind 10 to 20 kts. Waves 2 to 4 ft. A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Monday's marine forecast is South wind 5 to 10 kts. Waves 1 to 2 ft. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. That means it should be a nice ride going back home tomorrow.

And then there were 5 boats here. Another club member came in late morning rafting off the boat behind our's. As they were coming in, I was walking along the shoreline exploring the island and found ruins of the foundation and stone walkway of old house that was on the island in the early 1900's. I also found the memorial plaque for the Moravian settlers who died on the island during the winter of 1853.
