Welcome to the Bahamas
11 January 2011 | Bahama Banks
Now you would think that the hard part was complete, NO SUCH LUCK!!!!!
As the night wore on we decided to stop on the banks, the wind had been blowing for 4 hrs and there was a good 3 foot chop coming out of the West.
We hid just south of Mangrove Cay but just not quite far enough South, what a rough night so I thought. The next morning we left for Great Sale Cay, looking for refuge from the thunder and lightning we were seeing on the Northern horizon. We arrived in GSC and anchored, secured the boat and then proceeded to hunker down for the next 21 hrs with little or no sleep. Within 10 minutes of anchoring the winds were measured at 36.5 knots with increasing gusts and rain so thick you couldn't see the short mangroves breaking up the waters. WELCOME TO THE BAHAMAS?!!!!!!!
