On Bulldust
15 February 2019 | Rose Bay, Sydney
Sunny with light breeze.
Jervis Bay was delightful until..........later in the afternoon it appeared as if the Tasmanian bushfires had followed us. The sky was clouded grey but gradually turned brownish. Canberra the same day suffered a dust storm - nothing new there as they commonly suffer from bulldust coming from the Parliament. This bull dust found its way to Jervis. In the morning to our horror the whole boat was covered in an orangey sticky mess, a combination of salty dew and red dust. We got busy with buckets etc and managed to find deck underneath it all. The mainsail will have permanent pinkish patterns on it to remind us of Jervis Bay and so will some of our clothing. We hare still finding red dust in odd places. The netting which was once white is not anymore. Enough already!
The sail to Sydney was vigorous. We made excellent time and pulled away from Discovery 11, a sail boat following in no time at all. We arrived at Watsons Bay about 1930. Very nice spot too. I blog later on todays surprising events. Sorry for the silence of late. John passed to me a bug which has caused a very sore dry throat, and incessant, useless coughing. My eyes have been bulging, my head pounding and my guts turning circles. Not good on a boat. I feel a bit better today so was able to enjoy it. My voice has disappeared which is no loss to many. A bit of silence is good. Until later, as we are taking Hunter to the beach and doing a littler grocery shopping now. Ginni and John
