The Heat!

13 December 2019 | South China Sea
Ginni
Pos 1820, 13/12/19 09 50'S, 137 51'E. Hot, hot, hot! We are in the doldrums, minus the huge towering cumulus and squalls. Today has been so hot and sticky and the humidity somewhat oppressive. The breeze has mostly deserted us and the instruments measured 0.0
knots, of breeze that is. This evening there is a slight breeze and strangely from an unexpected direction, the west. The sea is still glassy but I suspect before too long we'll motor through this zone. Today there was no chance of turning off the tractor in the living room.
Somehow the noise is fading into the background. This evening there were lots of fish boils around with a few birds taking advantage of them to feed. Booby island is not too far away, as far as the booby flies that is. We are making good progress despite said lack of
wind. John is still unwell and has had a fever all day and a croaky throat. I don't know if he can do his watches, but last night I barely slept as I took all the night watches, but I have tried to sleep throughout the day. There is very little shipping and we have only seen about
x4 ship pass by so far.
Best go and finish updates to our weather man, and then clean up after our supper. Bye until tomorrow. Ginni and John.
