Hunkered
14 November 2015 | Caleta San Juanico
Vandy
SCOOTS and her crew are hunkered down on the northern side of beautiful Caleta San Juanico, along with six other boats, riding out one of the Sea's occasional Northers. The sky is clear and blue, the air is about 70 degrees, and the turquoise water is ruffled into whitecaps by the 25-30 knot winds. Outside the bay, "buffaloes" - big rolling waves - are stampeding by, but in here, things are pretty calm. Northers don't sneak up on anyone, and we all arrived here over the past couple of days, to take advantage of San Juanico's tall, sheltering hills, as well as to enjoy its lovely scenery, during the three-day blow.
Before the end of the week, the wind will subside, and we'll all be thinking of where we want to go next....
