When checking our sailblog today, I noticed that my last entry, Day 4 of our passage from Baja to the Mexican mainland, didn't post! Sorry to have left you all bobbing out there in the Pacific for a week!
We arrived in the La Cruz Marina on March 2, safe and sound, and rather stoked after finally being able to sail for about 24 hours, straight, including flying the spinnaker for the daylight hours. Yay!
Here is a photo of the anchorage at Isla San Francisco, where we anchored a couple of weeks ago, so you can see what a beautiful anchorage it is. I didn't have Internet access when we were there, so I couldn't include a photo.

Since arriving in La Cruz, which will be our home base for prepping for the Puddle Jump, and our jumping off point when we do go, we have been keeping a balance of work and play: buying all the stuff that we think we'll need to eat or use for the next few months, fixing all the things that we think will need fixing or maintaining for the next few months (though we'll also maintain and fix things along the way), filling out all sorts of paperwork to satisfy French Polynesian immigration officials, AND spending time with old and new friends, here in the Banderas Bay area.
Last Sunday, on my birthday, I took the General Level Ham exam and passed it. So now I will legally be able to talk on more far-reaching radio frequencies, which should come in quite handy when the nearest people will be 1000 miles or so away from us. And hopefully they will also have a radio.
Our boat is currently in a state of chaos, as we figure out where to put the spoils from our recent trips to the Mega superstore and Costco, and because of all the boat projects we have going on simultaneously, each in a different state of completion. It's a little bit crazy right now, so we really appreciate the opportunity to chill with friends each evening. Sadly, we still have more shopping trips and more projects planned....
The booty from one shopping trip to Costco. Oy.
We're not sure exactly when we'll be leaving for Polynesia (that'll depend largely on the weather), but we're pretty sure it will be sometime in March. I'll be sure to keep you posted as our plans solidify.
