Just "Being" in Grenada for a Bit

We aren’t doing anything in particular right now. Yes, there are boat jobs, but aren’t there always? The big one right now is clearing out the starboard quarterberth to actually create another bunk there. This requires shifting the SSB radio installation and moving the starting battery… and all of the stuff that has been stored there for far too long. We are putting in time in Grenada for when our friends come down at the end of the month for a visit... and we are VERY excited about that!

We are helping some friends with adjusting to cruising life. We met them last year at Christmas with our friend Kevin on ‘El Vagabundo’ (a name we thoroughly approve of, since it suits him and his boat!). Michael and Jane spent time with Kevin and Jenny, and had Christmas dinner with us when we were up in Martinique. We are partially responsible for them being bitten, hard, by the idea of living on a boat in the Caribbean. Easter they found their boat and made the purchase. A month ago they moved onboard. This is their first boat, and we are helping them a bit with the priorities of wheat they should do, and with a few jobs. Thankfully, they are handy, self-sufficient people who should do just fine with the lifestyle. ‘Yolo’ should be hitting an anchorage in about two weeks, when they get a decent anchor.

Other than that, we are doing the regular stuff; meeting new people (I started swimming in the afternoon with Johanne on ‘Panache IV’ until the jellyfish discouraged us). I’m hashing every Saturday, as well as my regular runs and work outs. Ken is doing his “tinker finger” thing with electronics he picks up, as well as basic advice when asked. Tuesday morning I am net controller. Ken’s enjoying his mandolin, but less so until the quarterberth job is done. We sold our “backup” autopilot, taking 2 hours together to dismantle it, but enjoying the extra couple of dollars we got for it. I'm also organizing a big hike in a couple of weeks, and contemplating the 1/2 marathon here next week.

I can’t say the muse has been hitting me to write lately… probably because rehashing menial boat jobs and talking about Hashes doesn’t strike me as something that people want to read about. I could get into some of my opinion pieces and rants, but I haven’t the heart for it, and am not entirely sure people want to read it, although I guess there is the option to skip that post if one wants to.

If anyone has questions or topics, I’m willing to entertain suggestions!
