Gwada Goings Ons

We've really been enjoying Guadeloupe this time around. Having friends around helps, and anm understanding of the bus system really helps! Besides just limin' around the anchorage, we've been hopping on a bus every once in awhile just to see other things. This has been good for us.
The other day we hopped the bus to St. Francois, south east end of the east wing of the butterfly. There is an anchorage there we wanted to eyeball, and we just felt like seeing something besides Gosier (we are comfortable where the boat currently is, and wanted to see more by land, too). Barb and Stew are trusting of my ability to speak some French, proving you can fool some of the people some of the time! Actually, I muddle by reasonably well, and I know what "morue" is.
St. Francois is nice, and quite touristy, but it also has a busy fishing port. Fish traps and nets festoon the seawall, and fishermen work at selling their day's catch, or working on the equipment. They all respond with friendly "bonjours" and smiles. There is also a golf course there... Which none of us cares about doing.
Back in Gosier we have gone to the weekly Friday market. Barb obsweerved that it is possible that nobody actually cooks on Friday night as there are so many ready made options ready to enjoy. Accra's, bokits, angoulous, home made ice cream, cakes and pastries all draw the wandering shoppers' attention, when gorgeous displays of local fruits and vegetables aren't catching one's eye. And the crafts! Jewellery, clothes, decorative items... So much one can choose to spend their €'s on (hee, I have that symbol on the tablet)!
We plan to move along soon. We just aren't entirely sure where, yet.
