Lynn
With a forecast of some pretty big winds, NNW or NW swells, and generally less than benign conditions, we decided that we would get to a more protected location. Besides, we were getting to our critical point of water on board, and the laundry bag is swelling like a pregnant goat.
Sunday morning, after a lovely breakfast of Dutch pancakes (pannekoeken) and my opportunity to swim ashore and get a beach run in, we hauled anchor and headed towards Point a Pitre.
We stopped by the marina fuel dock to fill up our water (huge sigh of relief when the tanks and jerry cans are full again), and an extra jerry of diesel. We then proceeded back out to the anchorage.
Last year, the anchorage area by the marina was cleared out for dredging. The area is open to anchoring again, and judging by the depths, we aren’t entirely sure if they did any dredging. However, it doesn’t matter. AND we got one of the spots that has line-of-site with the marina, so we are picking up their WiFi signal, too.
While there are some wakes from some of the passing traffic in the channel, we enjoyed a fairly quiet night last night, with very little rolling. We realised that this is probably the least amount of movement we’ve experienced in about 2 months. However, the distances are enough that the outboard had to be put back on the dinghy (damn, in 6 months maybe 5 weeks of outboard use, but we do own it for a reason. And I’m not entirely crazy, at least not enough to want to row about ½ a kilometer!)
Now to lug the “pregnant goat” to shore to get the laundry done.
