Second Planning Meeting
26 September 2009 | Bob's Home
The Baja Ha-Ha second planning meeting was held at Bob Ray's home. Bob barbecued some delicious chicken and the rest of the crew brought side dishes. Dave brought his ice cream maker and made vanilla ice cream for dessert. The head gear of our Baja Ha-Ha costumes were designed and assembled.
The watch schedules were reviewed and finalized. The group decided that limited access to the galley and refrigerated items would be best to keep the food organized. Dave and Cathy were assigned galley duties. Other assignments include Mike as electrical and electronics officer, Bob as mechanical and systems officer, Bill as engine and sail equipment officer, and Cathy as communications officer. Notably absent was an assignment for Lee. Hmm...
Storage capacity on the boat is a concern. After all, Sirocco was designed as a racer/cruiser, not a cruiser/racer. The crew will meet on Sunday, October 11th with their personal gear to map out the best stowage locations. Also scheduled for Sunday is testing the cruising mainsail and re-calibrating the radar.
Ongoing preparations include completing the solar panel installation; installing the silt filter for the watermaker; completing several canvas projects; and configuring and testing the satellite phone to accept text messages, emails, posts to blogs, and weather downloads.
