Sirocco at La Cruz
14 November 2009
This morning we moved over to La Cruz which is about 10 miles from Punta Mita. We listened to the morning cruisers net and Dave heard his friends Terry and Michelle. They were at La Cruz so we went over to join them. Terry was asking us how the Baha Ha-ha was for us as he was monitoring the weather and figured there would be boats in trouble. He heard reports of 35-45 knot winds and seas to 20 feet. Wow, that's more than we thought.
There are only 8 boats in the anchorage which surprised us. Even more surprising was the marina. Only about 20% of the slips are occupied. No 5 year waiting list here. We explored the town of La Cruz and went into a small market and were treated to homemade cerviche. What a treat! The owner of the market was quite a character. We will go back to him.
We all went swimming again this afternoon. The water seems to have more salt than the Caribbean which provides even more buoyancy. All of us are getting nice tans. No major sunburns so far.
Tomorrow we plan to explore the islands called Las Tres Maretas that are here in Banderas Bay. It is only a day anchorage so we will return to Punta Mita or La Cruz tomorrow night.
