Sirocco Arrives to Banderas Bay
14 November 2009
We've arrived at the Mexican mainland! We are anchored off of Punta Mita which is the most northern point of Banderas Bay. There's only 8 or 9 other boats here which is surprising. We figured there would be many more boats. It is a wonderful anchorage; lots of room, smooth water, and good holding ground. Bob, Dave and I dove in the water as soon as our anchor was set. Bill, I know you will be disappointed but the water is 86 degrees! The air temp is about 89 degrees, and it's November.
We had a wonderful curry chicken dinner and lots of rum. It feels good to be close to land again.
Punta Mita is a high end resort area. I have some history here. I spent 2 weeks here about 7 years ago installing software and training sailes associates who were selling home lots to high end clients. I worked out of the Four Seasons complex which was about the only facility here at the time except for one golf course. It has definitey grown. A lot more buildings are visible from the anchorage. I hope we go ashore tomorrow so I can check things out.
