Puerto Vallarta
17 November 2009 | Puerta Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
We left La Cruz yesterday to sail over to Puerto Vallarta which is about 8 miles north. We did this mainly to reprovision at the mega Wal Mart in Puerto Vallarta. Slips are only $40/night at Puerto Vallarta compared to $125 at Cabo but they really cannot be compared. The showers are about 40 years old, have no hot water, and the doors fall off.
We pulled into a slip next to a J-160 that is managed by a very enterprising amigo named Horacio. Before we knew it, he was cleaning our bottom and the entire boat. Total bill for cleaning bottom, replacing zinc, cleaning topsides and our black hull (spotless, I may add), and refueling a propane tank was $70. And it was top notch service. We have found that every local we have run into here in Central Mexico is very friendly and provides top notch service.
Today we are down to 3. Dave flew back home this afternoon so it's just Lee, Bob and I for the rest of the trip. We are missing Dave's cooking already.
We will return to La Cruz tomorrow and plan our trip south to the Gold Coast.
