Yelapa, Jalisco, Mexico, Nov 18th

Mike, Bill and Dave - we discovered the high water alarm works when leaving Puerto Vallarta Marina this morning. Nothing serious though. Somehow the automatic bilge pump was turned off and with all the boat cleaning and showering on board the past few days, the bilge filled up. The alarm is obnoxious but sure did its job. You never saw 3 people move so fast!
The bottom cleaning made a noticeable difference. We now motor at about .3 to .5 knots faster.
"A palapa in Yelapa beats a condo in Redondo". That's the tag line for the pueblo of Yelapa which is in south Banderas Bay. Hippies from the '60s discovered this quaint area and starting building palapas at the beach. The only access is by boat; there are no roads here. We watched palm trees and Corona tables and chairs brought in by panga. Winds are very light and the seas flat so we decided to stay the night here and may spend tomorrow here too. It is a beautiful place, a true Mexican pueblo. The locals move goods by donkey on a cobbestone path through town. The town and beach are separated by a river that you wade through to get to the other side. The tide came in on our trip back and I had difficulty crossing. For awhile I thought I was going to lose another camera.
The weather forecast for the next 5 to 7 days is very light winds and flat seas. We will probably round Cabo Corrientes and head for Chamela on Friday.
