Ensenada del Candelero (Cove of the Candlesticks)
18 November 2010

We left the marina this afternoon to spend some time on the islands outside of La Paz. We were able to sail most of the time and Lee caught a dorado on the way. Finally, some good fishing. It seems the green and yellow lure works for dorado. Lee fileted the fish immediately and we are all looking forward to a great meal tonight.
The anchorage we are in is called Ensenada del Candelero which means candlesticks. This anchorage is one of many on the west coast of Isla Espiritu Santos There is a large rock in the middle of the small bay that sort of looks like candlesticks. It's a beautiful anchorage with turquoise waters and interesting geological formations. All kinds of colors and layers of rock surround the water's edge. We are the only boat here. No cell service here but that's fine.
Tomorrow we plan to visit Isa Islotes to swim with the sea lions. Then we will go to Isla Partida to another beautiful anchorage called Ensenada Grande for the night. We are also planning our passage across the Sea. A big northerly is forecasted for Tues/Wed so we are planning our itinerary accordingly.
