Visitors from Oceanside
30 December 2010 | Nuevo Vallarta (Puerto Vallarta)
Today we met up with Darwin and Carleen Southard from Oceanside Yacht Club. They came to Puerto Vallarta via the cruise ship "Oosterdam" that left from San Diego on December 26th. The ship made a stop in Mazatlan yesterday and will stop in Cabo before returning to San Diego. Lee and I met them at the bus stop across the street from the cruise ship terminal. Carleen was wearing a bright yellow jacket so they were easy to spot. After stopping at the local boat chandlery "Zaragoza" (Lee cannot go past any chandlery without stopping), we took them to our marina in Paradise Village. It was great to sit and chat with them and catch up with the latest goings on in Oceanside. They brought (by request) much needed 3A batteries and albacore tuna from Costco. One would think with all the tuna caught here in Mexico that their canned tuna would be better tasting, but it's pretty bad.
After a tour of the resort, we had lunch and banana splits at the Vallarta Yacht Club. Then it was time for them to head back into town to board their ship.
Tomorrow we have family flying in to join us for 9 days so we're busy getting the boat ready. We will have 4 join us so it will be a full boat.
