Happy Valentine's Day
14 February 2011 | Santiago Bay
Today was a relaxing day in Santiago Bay. Just one minor boat project, replacing a couple of screws in a drawer in the v-berth. Then we were off to a restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day with the fleet. Sixteen couples all went to a restaurant that is up the hill from the anchorage. We all introduced ourselves and talked about where we had been and where we were going. A woman that was sitting at a table nearby got up and sort of interrupted the introductions and gave a little speech about how "cool" she thought it was for us to be sailing around Mexico. She was staying at the resort hotel and said seeing all the boats in the anchorage every morning really added something unforgettable to her holiday. She especially enjoyed watching the dinghies zipping around to and from shore. I think she had been drinking a little bit.
We ended the party at dusk so everyone would have an uneventful dinghy ride back to the boats. Sometimes the surf here can be a little tricky. It was fun watching the group navigate the surf break but no one seemed to have any trouble. Good thing because us laidies were wearing nice clothes.
We had hoped we could stay here long enough for Pacifico to catch up with us but we need to start working our way north to start preparing the boat for the Banderas Bay Regatta. Tomorrow morning we leave for Barra.
