Another Rolly Anchorage
29 April 2011 | Los Gatos
We ended up spending 2 nights at Isla San Francisco. The anchorage was a little rolly but with the flopper stopper it was fine. We hiked around the island a little bit. On Wednesday we left for Evaristo on the mainland. The cruise books claim it's an all weather anchorage. On the way we stopped at Isla San Jose and took the dinghy into the mangroves. The water is much clearer here than the mangroves around Tenacatita.
The first night at San Evaristo was very calm and flat. Not much on land but a quaint spot nonetheless. Mike on So Inclined arrived on Thursday so we stayed another night. Everything was fine until about 4:00am when a southern swell rolled in. The boat rolls were terrible! No one slept. We pulled up anchor at 6:30 and left for Los Gatos.
Los Gatos is a very pretty anchorage but again very rolly. And we got swarmed with bees looking for fresh water. I have a head cold and these conditions are helping much. We originally planned to stay here 2 nights but that plan is now scrapped and we will go to Agua Verde in the morning. Hopefully we have calmer anchoring conditions there.
I must say so far I haven't been all that impressed with the anchorages here in the Sea. We've only had 2 nights out of 7 so far of nice conditions. Hopefully things will get better.
