Still in Puerto Escondido
05 May 2011
The wind blew hard Sunday and Monday and then just about completely shut off Tuesday evening. Everything was completely still; not a single ripple in the water. It was a little eerie. It just shows you that the weather can change drastically.
We've been cleaning up the boat for the past couple of days. Even though we were on a mooring and not sailing, we got an unbelievable amount of salt on the boat. Spray was coming over the deck from the 30-40 knot winds even though we were not moving. Attached is a photo of our Mexican flag which was in perfect condition a week ago; now it's a little tattered. We've been soaking various lines and sheets in fresh water and wiping down everything.
Lee and I are still fighting colds but I think we are finally on the road to recovery. Our plan is to stay here until Saturday when Pacifico hopefully catches up with us. The bay has just about emptied out. Three days ago 150 boats were here. Now there are about 30.
