Yikes! Never seen this before

27 October 2023 | Yankee Point Marina, Lancaster, VA
Ed and Lynn
We had our boat hauled out yesterday but didn't stay long enough to see them block it as they were having problems backing up the trailer in the boatyard. Came back today to see our boat blocked higher than we have ever seen it. Looked a little precarious to us but hoping it is ok. Had to drive back home to get a ladder to climb aboard.
UPDATE: In December they raised our storage rate 26% so now instead of it being $20 more per month than our previous marina it is now $90 more than our previous marina. The hour drive to our old marina in Deltaville is looking a lot better.

Haulout close to home

26 October 2023 | Yankee Point Marina, Lancaster, VA
Ed and Lynn
We have been hoping to be able to haulout our 18' beam catamaran at the marina across the creek from us. They were $20 more per month for storage but we thought it was worth it to be close to home rather than an hour away. Their haulout slip was too narrow but we were hoping their new trailer would work for us. It was an interesting operation that involved both their backhoe and tractor to pull our boat out of the water. It took awhile but they got it done. We looked on with a little bit of trepidation.

Tempting fate

13 October 2023 | Lancaster, VA
Ed and Lynn
We needed to replace the LED bulb in our anchor light. Got the job done with no one getting hurt. We are getting too old for this.

Close encounter with Pride of Baltimore II

06 October 2023 | Lower Chesapeake Bay
Ed and Lynn
We were crossing the bay at the end of the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race as schooners were heading south. The race was called for no wind but our light boat was sailing west across the bay in light air. Technically we had the right-of-way because they were motoring but we didn't push it.

Dockmates with Godspeed

05 October 2023 | Onancock, VA
Ed and Lynn
Godspeed came in and docked next to us at the Onancock wharf. Also saw them last week competing at the 2023 Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta. They get around!
