Leaving Vanuatu
03 August 2015
Getting ready to leave Port Vila. Our paper work is sent to Fiji and clearance papers sent to Vanuatu Customs. The water tanks are full and we will get our duty free fuel after we clear out. We are hoping the weather window stays open long enough to get to Fiji some 500 miles away. We plan to leave on Saturday. If you have Google earth you can see where we have been by clicking on the map....
Today

Boat chore day. Heading to Russell tomorrow so we can be in town for Waitangi Day on Friday. Starts Thursday night with a free concert followed by a festival all day Friday. Waitangi day is a public holiday held each year on 6 February to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document, on that date in 1840. Going for a full moon hike tonight. Maybe we'll see or at least hear some Kiwi birds.
Rewired the instrument panel again. Got the oil alarm to work but the fuel gauge, water gauge and fuel shut switch still does not work. I have a new fuel gauge and will buy a new temp sender and fuel shut off switch when we get into Russell tomorrow. The outboard issue (overheating) was just a clogged intake screen. I have ordered new impeller just to have one on hand. Just to tell you........
Kayak

Summer
Our inflatable kayak found a good home. Had it listed on TradeMe and there was a bidding war. Got twice what we wanted and it turns out the guy who bought it was only 3 boats away from us!
Julie completed the starboard side pin rails and the butterfly hatch today. Sanded and oiled. So much easier with a sander.
