We're back at our boat after a couple of weeks exploring the north island in the van. Heading south, we sure could feel the shift in the season- it is autumn now and the leaves are changing. We had perfect weather, no rain, bright sunny days and cool nights, especially in the van! As usual, we focused on hiking & backpacking, but we threw in a few other things like museums, a bike ride, strolling elaborate gardens, some geothermal exploration and a little relaxing here & there. We both agree that it's going to be really hard to leave this place; there's an endless amount of stuff to do and it is set up just beautiful. It just blows your mind. I figured I'd let the pictures do the talking this time. Click on any one & it should bring you to our NZ Year 2 album- the new ones are toward the bottom, kind of mixed up as our internet comes & goes.
It feels good to be back in our own warm bed, & it is much warmer here in Whangarei since it's further north. We started replacing the wire rigging today. With any luck, we'll get it done in 2 weeks or so & then head toward Auckland area for some cruising. We're now gorging ourselves on green lipped mussels since we realize the time is ticking! I think we'll get tired of them before the avocados though but our food bill likes them!
