We made it home!

05 June 2008 | Vermont
We just wanted to tell anyone who's reading our blog that we made it back to the good ol' US in one piece! We started out with a launcha boat ride to the town of Rio Dulce, then a 4 1/2 hour bus ride to Honduras, then a cab to a hotel where we stayed for 6 hours to shower and rest until 10pm that night when we took another cab to the airport in San Pedro Sula, took off at 1am, got to Ft Lauderdale and switched planes, then continued to Boston. Got there and took the bus to South Station where we had an early lunch before hopping on the final bus to Vermont where mom and dad were waiting to pick us up! But, like Jon says, doing offshore sailing teaches you perseverance, tolerance for discomfort and ability to still function without sleep, so this is really no worse!

We got our truck running yesterday and our work clothes out of storage. Now we just have to find a place to live in Boston. We both start work Monday for 12 weeks! It will be good to see as many friends and family as we can and enjoy the beautiful summer in New England, plus earn a few bucks to replenish the cruising kitty. We're also looking forward to the next cruising season. Hopefully Evergreen will be OK on the Rio. After making the trip home, we definitely feel a LONG way away from the boat!
