I know that people who know me do not believe this, but it is true. Back in the days when David and Rob were still at HFS Architects, they gave all of the employees the Meyers-Briggs personality test (I'm still not sure why) and that proved it! I was an INFJ, the 'I' stands for introvert. Around people I know I'm not so much of an introvert, but when you get me into a room full of people I do not know I become the prettiest wall flower you have ever seen. I do not mix and mingle well, never have, and Barry is even more subdued.
I'm not quite sure how it happened but I found myself organizing one Christmas event for the Cruisers here in Grenada and helping with a second. The organizing part of it came naturally to me, I like my world neat and tidy and organized, but it also involved calling strangers on the phone and talking to more strangers on the VHF radio - two things I naturally shy away from.
The first event was a trip to the Botanical Gardens to see 'Christmas in the Gardens". Feeling a bit melancholy and believing it would be something similar to seeing the Christmas lights at Temple Square in Salt Lake City I mentioned to a friend that I would like to go. The next thing I knew other people (strangers) wanted to join me and were calling me to find out what time I had arranged for the bus to pick them up.
Egads! I just wanted to see a few Christmas lights! Good grief, the next thing I knew there were 28 people who wanted to go! OMG what had I gotten myself into?!? Now I am expected to have conversations on the VHF radio complete with 'over', 'roger', 'copy that' and a whole host of etiquette rules - it is all sooooo intimidating!
The entire outing was a huge success and everyone had a great time. However, the Christmas lights were nothing like Temple Square, but fun all the same. As it turns out, it was more of a music event and the music was great!
