adventure into town". We caught the bus with fur kids in tow. This will be Russ's first experience in town. We get off at the market and ask directions to the Cathedral. This is where we are meeting Ken and Lori. We walk up about four blocks and then turn right and walk another two blocks guiding the fur kids through the massive crowds. It is nearly Christmas and the market is swarmed with people, more than usual; purchasing everything from t-shirts to groceries to smoked mackerel.
On the corner I spotted Lori. We hugged and said our hellos and then walked to her house and when we got there Ken came walking up. It is linear in shape. It has a large kitchen, living room that has an open air patio attached and off to the side of the open air patio is a covered walkway that leads to the bathroom and bedroom, in the bedroom there is a doorway out to a small patio that has a covered washer and dryer and a small place for a table and chair to enjoy your coffee and read if wanted. The little casita is perfect and real quaint. It is just a couple of blocks from the Plazuela Machado which is the original zocolo (spelling in not correct). The zocolo is a place where everyone meets for socializing. It is usually a focal point of town. This one looks very much like a park with lots of benches. There is a lot of history here and entertainment. I can see why one could fall in love with this place.
After seeing the house we walked down to have lunch. The food is good and the prices reasonable. We walked about three of four blocks to the Malicon and talked and watched all the action. We had a great visit and made plans to see them on Sunday and go watch them play music. We said our farewells at the bus stop and on the bus ride back to the boat Russ and I tossed around the Idea of checking out what a place down here would cost and then compare that to a rental place.
