Everyday Living

06 January 2010 | Beautiful San Blas, Mexico
Jodee
It is an interesting anchorage here in San Blas. Our view from the boat is mangrove jungle and all kinds of birds singing there song on one side and the other side is the shore side of town. We have a beautiful view of the shrimp boat fleet, the marinas, the library and school. I am trying to get on sail blogs to post this update and have not been able to connect to sailblogs.com for two days. This is very frustrating. We have a vibration in when the engine runs, so Russ dove on the bottom to see if we caught a line in the prop or rudder. It turns out that there is no line but half of the shaft zinc is gone. That is the problem. Russ also scrubbed down the side of the boat to get the white streaks off from the deck cleaning. Meanwhile I am multitasking trying to get connected to sail blog, uploading photos to facebook and doing laundry. Yes by hand and in the sink. Oh, did I forget, I also made bread. While taking down and folding the laundry, I shook out the no-seeum screens and got rid of all the ones in side the boat. So tonight was a great evening with, NO bites. We have come to the conclusion that every beautiful place has a reason it is so pretty and is usually a draw back. Here it seems to be the no-seeums, up in the Pacific Northwest it is the rain. The reason the bugs are worse right now is because they have had a lot of rain and very high tides that drive them out of the mangroves. Since the rain has stopped for a while the bugs are getting better.

I have noticed that some of the other blogs I have looked at are giving a cost of cruising report. You won't get one from me because we don't want to know. All we need to know is that we don't spend more than the social security that comes at the end of every month.
