Communications Set Up Day

17 January 2010 | San Blas Estuary
Jodee
Sunday January 17th is a stay on the boat day. Russ worked on our electrical system tracing and checking and having me start the engine and stop the engine multiple times while he took his readings. He then took the starter switch apart and sprayed some Corrosion Block in it and put it back together. Meanwhile I was uploading all the photos that we had taken on to facebook and sailblogs gallery not to mention on my computer. Yes this took all day. Rich came over and showed me how to up load multiple photos on to my blog page. Thank you Rich.

The boat was boat was over run with flys so we put out two different fly traps one is the old fly strip. It is real sticky. The other is like a fly motel. It is a bottle with a stinky solution in it. So far the fly paper wins the contest. In one day starting at noon it has over 32 fly's and the motel has one fly. Lets hear it for the fly paper. Now the fly paper creates another problem in that you have to keep moving it out of the way and it is very sticky.

It is sunny today and no breeze to be had until about 11:43 when I felt what might be a breeze. A breeze is necessary to blow the fly's away and make it more difficult for them to land and also to blow away the no-seeums and to detour the mosquito's not to mention the cooling affect.

We are have been having a problem with skype not being able to hear. It sounds like the person we are trying to contact is talking under water. So I went to Yahoo Messenger and found out they have the same type of set up. Phone out and phone in. You buy credit for phone out and you can buy a phone number for $29.00 a year. That allows your friends and family to leave you messages and when you go on line you can pick up the messages for less than you could on the cell phone down here in mexico. So I got that all set up and we made our first call to my mom and to his mom. It was good to find out how everyone is doing.

Russ's other project today was to swap out the Balmar Regulator which he never got to.

Lori came by to let us know that a dock party is going to start at 6:00 pm. I made potato salad from the little potatoes at the chicken place. They are very special potatoes. Instead of having it at the dock we moved up to the pool area. It was a lighted pool so the light helped out for eating. The menu was chicken from the chicken place complete with rice, beans and corn tortillas, a pickle plate, deviled eggs, coleslaw, pizza and I know I am missing a dish or two. The food was excellent and the desert even better. It was a fancy chocolate cake. There was good conversation all round. The boats that attended were: Third Day, Victoria Rose, Exit Stratagy, Serenity, Cast Away, Delphis and of course yours truly.
