The town of Westport celebrated the 4th on the 7th (a Saturday). We watched awesome fireworks from our boat drinking a local microbrew, afterwards we listened to a good "bad" bar band coming from the Marina. The best 4th I've ever had on the 7th.
Snow Goose's Captain is Tommy, who happens to be a former chef so he also does most of the cooking. Tommy is from Queens, New York, or the "Manor." Tommy grew up sailing small boats with this brother in the Little Neck Bay. [...]He also spent sometime on his Uncle's boat the Golden Goose (that's were we got the "Goose"). The Golden Goose is a 46 foot wooden schooner his uncle built himself.
And Me, I don't have an official title, I just handle supplies, cleaning, anchor (dropping and pulling up), grabbing mornings or throwing dock lines, getting The "Captain" cold beverages, etc... Most of the photos are also taken by me. I'm a reluctant sailor, I'm from Wichita Kansas so I did not grow up near water. I also get sea sick and am a little afraid of water (I almost drowned as a kid). I do, however, enjoy being near water and reading in the sun so I put on some acupuncture bracelets and enjoy the ride. I've learned to love being on the boat, especially sitting out in our cockpit, drinking wine (or Sangrias) and watching the sunset.
The Baby is our Beagle and boat companion. She spent her first nights with us on a boat trip to Burton Island in August 2009. She's now three and and a pro on the boat, a pro at napping in the sun that is. She doesn't like the water so she stays on the boat and she's small so she's a good fit, [...]
