Hanging in El Burro

08 June 2011 | 26 43.87'N:111 54.33'W, El Burro, Bahia Conception
I am still in El Burro. Blue Rodeo and Swift Current moved north today. I am going to mis those guys. Hope our paths cross again--maybe in the states-maybe out cruising. A couple other boats I know, Groovy and Bright Angel, have moved in to El Burro. I also met Les on Nancy Rae a couple days ago. He came down on the Ha Ha and is now single handing.

Anne got to swim with a whale shark yesterday so she can cross that one off her bucket list. I didn't realize how lucky I was with my encounter last time I was here. We also found some internet down the highway so I can monitor the weather better--especially now with hurricane Adrian. Doesn't look like it will affect us too much up here. El Burro is a nice cove and now with internet I decided to stay until I stage up to Punta Chivato or Puerto Viejo (Isla San Marcos) for crossing over to San Carlos (or more likely the nearby Bahia Algodones). Looks like Saturday is my target day for the crossing--if the weather predictions hold. That means I might be heading north/staging Friday.

The water here is nice and warm. Good thing too because the days have gotten hot. It's been in the high 90's down below during the day and near 90 in the evening even with the tents up. You can't do too much without working up a sweat. I've added more insulation to my fridge and freezer and the solar is keeping up. I've also taken to sleeping in the cockpit where it is cooler and I think I am adapting--or maybe it wasn't quite so hot today.

Life is still good here. I am getting anxious to cross--to get that last long leg behind me, see what there is to see on the other side, and to start getting things ready to truck home.
