Leaving Trinidad

Goodbye Chaguramas
Now it is time to get moving on the water. We have had a great time meeting up with people that we first came upon previously in other parts of the world and a great time meeting new friends. We also get to talk to others that have been in the Caribbean and get some good information of where to go and not to go. We have spent a week and half on the moorings in the Chaguramas anchorage and it has had some swell on occasions. We have a new flopper stopper but have been reluctant to put in the water, as there is a lot of oil in the water. We already need to clean the side of the boat when we move, and don’t need anything else to clean. Our first stop was La Vache Bay to get us close enough to Tobago for a dayhop. As usual, it was a little rolly but it was quiet, empty and incredibly peaceful for a change. We were visited later in the night by some fishing boats but they left us alone. We did try out the watermaker for the first time since being in the water and of course it sprung a leak. Unfortunately araldite didn’t quite do the job but we knew we could find a part somewhere in the islands and we had enough water to keep us going for a few days anyway. It is never hard to be away from civilization here in the Caribbean. Not quite like the Pacific.
