St Georges Caranage
09 December 2015
We eventually decided to move so after a couple of hours of sailing, we were at St Georges anchorage, just out from the main town. Now it was just a dinghy ride to town, buses and supermarkets. The whole water front was much the same from the late 1800’s and a local business had provided hitching posts along the Caranage just so we can tie up our dinghies. We took advantage of this and walked the town, stopping at the local fort museum and market place. The fort is amazing as it is still in use today. Some business have set up shop in a fort built in the 1800’s that is crumbling around them and is subject to hundreds of people wandering around. After a few days of just hanging out and enjoying the sights, we decided to move. Seeing 3 cruise ships come in this morning was a really big incentive. When 6000 people hit this town, it will not be quite the place we would like to see, so we set sail for Carriacou.
